YHC presents Fine Arts Events for April 

Young Harris College (YHC) invites the community to attend fine arts events in April. All events will take place on the YHC campus, which is located at 1 College Street in Young Harris.  

On Monday, April 3 at 7pm, the Guest Artists Recital with Ron Brendel & Mathew Zalusky will take place in the Susan B. Harris Chapel. Ron Brendel has been “doing music” since high school, professionally singing in opera, operetta, oratorio, concerts, and recitals.  He has done significant work in choral conducting, coaching, church music seminars, and academic presentations internationally.  Mathew Zalusky, based in Cleveland, TN, is a staff accompanist at Lee University and the full-time pianist at Hopewell Baptist Church. He has a passion for ministry, and he loves participating in collaborative music.  He is a truly versatile musician in a wide variety of genres. This event is free and open to the public.  

On Monday, April 10 at 6pm, the Opening Reception of the Spring Senior Thesis Art Exhibition will be held at the Campus Gate Art Gallery. The exhibition will run until Wednesday, May 3. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9am until 5pm. This exhibition is free and open to the public.  

On Wednesday, April 12 through Saturday, April 15 at 7pm, And Then We Saw the Stars Again – An Original Devised Production will be performed in Dobbs Theatre. The show will also be performed on Saturday, April 15 at 2pm. Tickets are available at YHC.edu/boxoffice. For mature audiences. 

On Saturday, April 15 at 3pm, Augsburger Domsingknaben – The Augsburg Cathedral Boys Choir will be performing in Glenn~McGinnis Hall. The Augsburger Domsingknaben are the renowned cathedral boys choir

 at the Dome of Augsburg and have gained a quick and lasting reputation among the finest boy choirs worldwide since their founding in 1976, thus becoming a musical ambassador for the city and diocese of Augsburg. This event is free and open to the public.  

On Tuesday, April 18 at 7pm, the YHC Jazz Band Concert will be held in Glenn~McGinnis Hall.  The ensemble plays traditional jazz including blues, swing, bop, and Latin styles, along with contemporary rock and funk. This event is free and open to the public.  

On Thursday, April 20 at 7pm, the YHC Concert Band will be performing in Glenn~McGinnis Hall.  The Concert Band is the premier symphonic instrumental ensemble at YHC, composed of the College’s woodwind, brass, and percussion players.  This event is free and open to the public.  

On Saturday, April 22 at 3pm, Acapalooza will take place in Glenn~McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.  

On Sunday, April 23 at 2 pm, Senior Showcase Act I will be held in Dobbs Theatre. Donations will be accepted.   

On Monday, April 25 at 7pm, Senior Showcase Act II will be held in Dobbs Theatre. Donations will be accepted.   

On Friday, April 28 at 7pm, the Musical Theatre Revue will be performed in Dobbs Theatre. Donations will be accepted.   

On Friday, April 28, at 7pm, the Mountain Community Chorus Spring Concert will take place at McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee. Donations will be accepted.   

On Saturday, April 29 at 3pm, the Mountain Community Chorus Spring Concert will take place at McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee. Donations will be accepted.
