Wreck on Highway 76 West

Emergency workers responded to a wreck on Highway 76 West in Rabun County this week.  On Aug. 13, at 4:25am, a deputy and paramedics were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle accident involving an 84-year-old man.  According to the motor vehicle crash report, the man was traveling east on Highway 76 in a 2017 Hyundai Elantra when the vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment.  It came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway and the driver attempted to move the vehicle but was only able to travel ten feet. Emergency workers arrived on the scene and transported the Liberty, South Carolina, man to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.  The man, according to his family, suffers from short term memory loss.
