Wildcats Receive Recognition from State Publication

The Rabun County Wildcats earned their seventh win of the year on Friday, after defeating rival Union County, 49-3 at Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium.

Head Coach Lee Shaw was awarded the Coach of the Week by Georgia High School Football Daily. GHSFD said of Shaw, “Shaw’s Wildcats defeated previously unbeaten and ninth-ranked Union County 49-3 in a game that put Rabun County in the lead of Region 8-AA. Shaw is 30-12 in his four seasons at Rabun County, his alma mater. The program was 6-34 over the previous four seasons. The Wildcats won their first region title in 16 years last season.”

As for the team, they are now ranked number 4 in the State at the AA-level according to the GHSFD poll. In summary of last week’s game, GHSFD said of Rabun County, “Bailey Fisher was 21-of-33 passing for 294 yards and three touchdowns, and Rabun led 42-3 at halftime. Rabun held all-state QB Joseph Mancuso to 3-of-11 passing for 48 yards and sacked him four times.”

The Wildcats host Washington-Wilkes this Friday at 7:30 P.M.
