Wildcats host Wolfpack on Friday Night

It’s game 5 of the season Friday night, September 23, 2022, for the Rabun County Wildcats, as they host the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack in a non-region game.  Both teams are 4-0 on the season.  Rabun County High School Varsity Football Head Coach Mike Davis says this will be a tough game for the Wildcats.  “Well, I tell you they are loaded with talent.  I don’t know if it is the best football team but it has three of the best players that we have faced all year.  They have a big defensive lineman and offensive tackle that is going to Arkansas.  He is about 6’8” tall, 375 pounds, and looks like Mount Rushmore.  You’ll notice him.  He sticks out like a sore thumb.  Then they have a linebacker who is going to North Carolina.  A really, really good player.  Then offensively, they go with their quarterback.  He’s very dynamic.  He’s a super fast kid.  He throws it good.  He is going to East Carolina as an athlete because he plays defensive back and free safety for them.  And they have some really good players that go along with them.  It’s just not a three-man team but those are three of the best players that we will see all year on one football team.  They’re a spread.  They’re a big quarterback-run team.  They run a lot of power-read.  If you remember the old Cam Newton at Auburn-type stuff where they are going to read the defensive end and they will have a lead blocker.  They do a lot of stuff like that where they try to get the quarterback out on the perimeter and inside.  So, we’ve got to do a good job of hemming him up and when we get a chance to hit, we’ve got to hit him and hold on and not let him get away.”  The Rabun County High School varsity football game kicks off at 7:30pm in Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium.  If you can’t make it to the game and don’t want to miss a touchdown or tackle of the Wildcats, you can listen to all the exciting action on Sky 96.3.
