White County Sheriff’s Office warning about Scam

The White County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports about someone calling citizens pretending to be an employee. They further go on to say there has been a warrant issued for failure to appear to court or for missing jury duty. The White County Sheriff’s Office says please do not give them money, this is a scam. The employees of the White County Sheriff’s Office will never call you to tell you they have a warrant and take money over the phone to “settle” anything. If you feel like someone is attempting to fraud you, immediately hang up the phone. If you are unsure, hang up the phone and call the White County Sheriff’s Office at 706-865-5177 to verify if the person you are talking to is actually an employee of the Sheriff’s Office.
