The Foodbank of northeast GA provides food distribution

To organizations that in turn help feed the those in need in Rabun

County and the surrounding  area

But do you know what else they do ?

They can teach you how to cook

I sat down with the teaching kitchen coordinator Cara-Lee Langston

I asked her about some of the cooking events coming up

The first event she mentioned is on October 7th Georgia grown executive

Chef Jennifer hill booker which will be a live cooking demonstration with tastings of some of her favorite dishes although this class is not hands on all other classes at the teaching kitchen will be tickets will be 25 dollars A person

We discussed how the money that was raised from classes

was used with community partners such as Medlink, Avita and faith. She told us they use the money raised to have cooking classes that teach those with conditions such as diabetes or hypertension that  would benefit from a special diet or those on a budget to get the most from their cooking dollar

we also discussed How folks could get more information class registration and additional information can be found at www.foodbanknega.org and click on the teaching kitchen link
