What can You bring to the Recycle Centers

A common question among environmentally conscious individuals is what can you bring to the recycling centers in Rabun County?  According to their website, the Rabun County Solid Waste and Recycle Department lists plastic bottles; green, brown, and clear glass bottles and jars; cans, white goods, steel, and scrap metal; newspaper, magazines, junk mail, and office paper; cardboard, pasteboard, and paper shopping bags; antifreeze and motor oil; batteries; electronic equipment like computers and monitors; cell phones; and of course household garbage.  Please follow these rules when recycling: separate your items at home, clean your items, take a moment to rinse bottles and cans, and flatten items if at all possible. The transfer station and landfill is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm.
