Westminster Man charged with Shoplifting in Rabun County
A Westminster, South Carolina man stands charged with felony theft by shoplifting, criminal trespass, and possession and use of drug-related objects. On Jan. 28, 2021, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Walmart in Clayton for a shoplifting that had just taken place. While on the way, dispatch notified the deputy that the suspect had gotten into a Chevy Silverado and drove to Home Depot where he was detained by a Georgia State Patrol unit. The deputy arrived while another deputy went to Walmart to review a security video. The deputy returned from Walmart with the loss prevention officer, who scanned five items, a mini printer, a mobile phone, a home camera, and a drone, valued at $825, that came back as unpaid for. The deputy also noticed a used glass smoking device in the cup holder of the truck. The deputy gave 40-year-old Brian Keith Roach of Westminster three Superior Court citations. Then dispatch informed the deputy that he had 21 warrants out of South Carolina and they wanted to place a hold on him. He was then transported to the Rabun County Detention Center. The stolen items were returned to Walmart.
