Water usage in Clayton going Down but More needs to be Done

The Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) is working closely with the City of Clayton on lowering its water usage.  The City of Clayton’s November 2019 volume was 32,808,000 gallons and the November 2020 volume was 40,871,696 gallons, which is a difference of 8,063,696 gallons or a 24.6% increase.  RCWSA General Manager Brendan Thompson says more effort is being done to lower the water usage amount.  “We are working with the City of Clayton to let them know that those volumes are backing off a little bit now and it is giving us a little bit of breathing room but they are still way too high.  We just feel that we need to get some more people out to find these leaks and find these problems.  I know they are working hard but it is a joint effort and everybody has to tote their end of the log, so we are just doing our best to hopefully keep this going.  I know my folks have been working really, really hard but we will continue to work, monitor the situation, see what we can fix, and do better.”  Residents are asked to report any water leaks as soon as possible as finding leaks and repairing them continues to be a top priority for the RCWSA as well as the City of Clayton.
