Water Release Dates for Tallulah Gorge State Park

Water is set to be released at Tallulah Gorge State Park this month.  Those dates are Sept. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29, 2019. On a typical day, the water flow through the gorge is 35–40 cubic feet per second (CFS). During aesthetic releases, the flow is 200 CFS, and during whitewater releases, the flow is 500 CFS on Saturday and 700 CFS on Sunday. Climbing and hiking down into the gorge are not allowed on these dates.  The aesthetic water releases are scheduled on these dates between 8am and 8pm. In addition, water is scheduled to be released on Oct. 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 26, and 27, 2019. One of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern United States, Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep.
