Water and Sewer Legislation Passes Both Chambers

The piece of local legislation providing for the creation of a new water and sewer authority has passed in both chambers of the state legislature.

House Bill 496 provides for the creation of the new Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority, and was approved by the State House of Representatives earlier this month.

Then last week, the bill went before the State Senate for a second reading, and after the State and Local Governmental Operations Committee reported favorably, was passed by a 47 to 0 vote.

Also, the legislation changing certain aspects of the Rabun County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau was passed by the Senate.
