Wagner wins 8U District Cross Country Championship

Congratulations to Kai Wagner for winning the 2022 District Cross Country Championship.  Adam Dixon, Athletic Director for the Rabun County Recreation Department says that Kai hasn’t lost a meet all season in youth cross country.  “Our second annual cross country season is wrapping up.  Kai Wagner, one of our 8U runners, has basically dominated the field this year.  He won district this past Saturday.  He actually did not lose a meet for the whole year and goes to try to win a state championship on Saturday at Jefferson.  We’re really proud of Kai.  We’re proud of Ed Eidson for starting the program and helping us out.  He goes and does 90% of the work and we are kind of behind the scenes but Ed and his assistant is Holly Henry-Perry, our Clerk of Court.  So, I know she is busy but she has put in a lot of time as well.  We are proud of those guys and of course, they are volunteers, they don’t get anything except for the joy of teaching these kids a great sport and teaching them how to be better little human beings and that is really what our main goal is here at the Rabun County Rec Department.”  The Rabun County Rec Cross Country Team will compete on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the third annual GRPA State Championship in Jefferson.  To learn more, visit https://rabuncounty.ga.gov/recreation or its Facebook page.
