Vehicle stolen from Mountain City

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina are investigating a stolen vehicle out of Mountain City.  On August 7, 2020, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office met with a Mountain City resident in the parking lot adjacent to Georgia 15 and South Wolfork Road in reference to a motor vehicle theft.  The man stated that he parked a 1995 Ford F350 flatbed truck there for sale and the next day noticed it was missing.  The value of the truck is $6,500.  A few days later the man was notified by a friend that he saw someone driving his truck in North Carolina.  The deputy then notified the Macon County Sheriff’s Office again to pass along the new information.  On August 9, the truck was found in McDowell County, North Carolina, and towed to an impound yard there.  Two people were found driving the truck and were arrested by a deputy of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office.
