Urgent Need for Blood

With less than a three-day supply of most blood types available, the American Red Cross is facing a blood shortage and has an emergency need for blood and platelet donors to give now to replenish the blood supply. The call for donations comes after a difficult July 4th week for donations when hundreds fewer blood drives were organized by volunteer hosts than a typical week, compounding a shortfall of more than 24,000 blood donations in June.  You can help ensure no patient experiences delays in treatment or emergency care due to the shortage, says Ronnika McFall, External Communications Manager for the American Red Cross. “The Red Cross is facing an emergency need for blood donors and is urging eligible donors of all types to give now and help avoid delays in lifesaving medical care for patients this summer. Blood donations are being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in. More donations are needed now to help replenish the blood supply. Be a hero to a patient in need. Use the Blood Donor App, visit red-cross-blood-dot-org or call 1-800-RED CROSS to make an appointment.”  Once again, visit red-cross-blood-dot-org or call 1-800-RED CROSS to make an appointment.
