Update on Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant Filter Project

At this week’s meeting of the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority, General Manager Brendan Thompson gave an update on the Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant filter rehabilitation project.  “We are exploring a new filtration system at our Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant.  We are doing our due diligence at this time.  Doing our bench testing and our raw water testing.  We want to get a preliminary engineering report on that and take a look at the costs on that versus a conventional filtered rehab.  We would like to start that project in January, which would be right after we finish our control valve project.  So, we are proceeding on with that and we want to get that one done probably in the March time frame if we can get started in January.  We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us on that one, but it’s good.  This new system looks to be able to add some volume for us and lower some of our costs for operating the plant.”  Thompson added that the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority wants to make sure it is doing its due diligence, clearly and professionally, on the project.
