Unemployment Down Slightly

The unemployment rate both for the state and the county have decreased in the past month.

The jobless rate for the Georgia Mountains Region for the month of November is 7.1 percent, just less than October’s rate of 7.2 percent. The unemployment rate is also currently seven tenths of a percentage point less than November 2011’s rate.

Rabun County continues to have one of the highest unemployment rates in Northeast Georgia, with the rate currently sitting at 11.3 percent. That is one tenth of a percentage point less than October’s rate.

The state’s unemployment rate for November is 8.5 percent, down from October’s rate of 8.7 percent.
