Two People arrested on Meth Charges

Methamphetamine charges have landed two more people in jail in Rabun County.  On Sept. 16, 2019, around 8:30pm, a deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix for failure to maintain lane on Georgia 15 at Camp Creek Road in Lakemont.  A search of the vehicle discovered methamphetamine and marijuana. Arrested as a result were 30-year-old Christopher Allen Mahan of Cherokee, North Carolina, for possession of methamphetamine, possession and use of drug-related objects, driving while license suspended, and failure to maintain lane and 40-year-old April Dawn Bird of Cherokee, North Carolina, for possession of methamphetamine, crossing state lines with weapons, possession and use of drug-related objects, and possession of an open container of alcohol.  Both suspects were booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the charges.
