Tractor-trailer clips ‘low-hanging’ Windstream power lines

A tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound in the area of Highway 76 West when it struck low-hanging overhead lines with the top of its trailer, breaking two poles in the process.

The 2012 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Kahsay Woldesilassie, 33, of Houston, Texas received some damage from the accident. The low-hanging power lines peeled the top portion of the trailer back but the driver was not injured in the process.

According to the Georgia State Patrol Post 7 office in Toccoa who had jurisdiction over the incident, Woldesilassie told authorities he had traveled through the area earlier in the day and had no issues.

Windstream personnel on scene stated they had measured the height of the overhead lines “a few days” previous with results of nineteen feet.

The driver has not been charged.
