Tips for Driving in the Rain

The Georgia Department of Public Safety is offering safety tips for driving in the rain.  Always remember to be a safe driver and follow the law by turning on your headlights.  Every driver must remember to turn on their headlights from a half-hour after sunset to a half-hour before sunrise, and at any time when it is raining or there is not sufficient visibility.  In Georgia, it is not illegal to drive with your hazard lights on in the rain, but this does not mean it is a good idea.  Hazard lights reduce visibility and make other drivers think you are stopped, make detecting sudden braking difficult, and they turn off your ability to use your turn signals.  If you are having a hard time seeing, the better option is to pull to a safe place and wait until conditions improve.
