Tiger Drive-In hosting Bicentennial Event Tonight

This is Rabun County’s bicentennial year and to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the county, the Tiger Drive-In is hosting a special party tonight, tells owner Tom Major.  “We’ve been supporting Rabun County’s 200th anniversary, once a month for the last four months, this is our last one and on Thursday, Aug. 15, at about 6:30pm we will be showing Thunder Road.  Now Thunder Road was filmed in 1958, but it really depicts what it was like during the moonshine days in Rabun County. On top of having the movie, we have Gus, our chef, doing some ribs and Bill Blaylock bringing his 1954 Ford, which is a replica of Robert Mitchum’s car in the movie complete with liquor in the back seat and a shotgun and all that kind of stuff.  We’ll also have a liquor still there and then Moonrise Distillery, who makes moonshine and other stuff that is going to be sampling there. So, I can’t think of anything more that will be going on that evening. We also have a band, Backwoods Soul, and they are fantastic. So, it is our culmination of the county’s anniversary and we are really excited about it.” The Tiger Drive-In is located at 2956 Old 441 South in Tiger.  Tickets are $10.
