Three Wrecks in less than 24 Hours in Rabun Co.

Three auto-accidents were investigated by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office in less than 24 hours this week.  The first wreck happened at 2:40pm on Monday, Aug. 26, on Georgia 15 at its intersection with Nacoochee Drive.  According to the motor vehicle crash report, a 2019 Ford Fusion driven by a 75-year-old female from Gainesville, Florida was traveling north on Georgia 15 following a 1998 Dodge Ram flatbed truck driven by a 49-year-old man from Franklin, North Carolina.  The Dodge truck was pulling a trailer and made a right turn onto a gravel road off Georgia 15 directly across from Nacoochee Drive when the Ford struck the trailer, which was still in the roadway. Fortunately, no one was injured in the two-vehicle accident.  The second wreck happened at 6:45am on Tuesday, Aug. 27, on Germany Mountain Road at its intersection with Possum Trot Road. A 67-year-old Clayton man was driving a 2002 Chevy Express Van and told the deputy that he was traveling west on Germany Mountain Road when a large truck traveling east entered his lane and struck his mirror and broke the driver’s side window.  The large truck did not stop and the driver stated that he could not give the make or model of the truck. No one was injured in the two-vehicle accident. The third wreck occurred at 8:15am on Tuesday, Aug. 27, on Davis Gap Road near Highway 76 West. According to the motor vehicle crash report, a 36-year-old man from Chicago was driving a 1994 Ford Ranger when he entered a curve, the vehicle started sliding, and did not turn.  Then the Ford ran over an embankment and struck a tree. No one was injured in the single-vehicle accident.
