Three Recent Wrecks in the County cause Damage

Three recent wrecks in Rabun County caused damage.  On July 12, the driver of a 2019 Hyundai Sonata lost control on Highway 76 East and left the roadway.  The vehicle traveled approximately 50 feet down an embankment into a field and struck another embankment coming to final rest.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage.  The driver complained of injury and was transported to the hospital by Rabun County EMS.  On July 19, the driver of a 2010 Volkswagen Routan went off the roadway on Georgia 15 at its intersection with Betty Whitecloud Street striking a sign, and continued down the sidewalk sideswiping a concrete wall with the right side of the vehicle.  The driver did not stop, got back on Georgia 15, and continued for approximately 2-3 miles before being stopped by a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office near Hitching Post Lane.  On July 23, the driver of a 2005 Nissan Xterra was traveling at a high rate of speed on Lake Rabun Road and while attempting to negotiate a curve left the roadway and wrecked into a 2013 GMC Yukon that was parked in a driveway.  The Nissan then went backward and down an embankment.  Emergency personnel assisted the driver out of the vehicle and transported her to the hospital for a head injury.
