Thousands remain without power in Rabun County

According to information from Georgia Power and Habersham EMC, Rabun County had the most widespread power outages reported – collectively totaling around 11,000.

As of Monday morning, nearly 5,000 still remain without power from both HEMC and GA Power consumers.

According to Nicole Dover Director of HEMC who provided an update as of 6 a.m. Monday, Rabun still has 2133 meters that remain without power. Neighboring counties as follows: Habersham 419; Hall 12; Lumpkin 33; Stephens 22; White 105.

According to Georgia Power’s Outage Map, nearly 3,000 remain without power in various parts of the county.

A few of the more widespread outage locations are as follows; Warwoman Road to Pine Mountain (500 meters out), Sandy Ford Road to Poole Creek Road (80 meters out), New Hope Road to Mize Lane (100 meters out), Joe Davis Road (100 meters out), Screamer Road to Saddle Gap Road (300 meters out) as well as other locations.

According to representatives from both energy providers, the delay in restoration is due to downed power lines from trees that have fallen.
