Thousands of Eggs hunted in less than 3 Minutes at Rabun Co. Rec

This year’s Easter Egg Hunt at the Rabun County Recreation Department featured hundreds of kids snatching up thousands of eggs in a mere three minutes, says Amy Martin, Recreation Program Specialist.  “We had a blast Thursday!  The weather held out for us, which was amazing.  It was just a perfect weather day to have the Easter Egg Hunt.  We had probably around 500 people in the park for this event.  We put out about 7,500 eggs on three different fields.  Our age groups were 0-3, 4-6, and 7-9.  So, we split the kids up according to age and at 6pm we sounded the horn and off to the races if you will.  It took probably an hour and a half to spread the eggs and the kids had them cleaned up by, I would say three minutes after 6pm.  So, it took about three minutes to clear the fields.”  Kids also enjoyed food and games, adds Martin.  “We had hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn, bounce houses, bean race, sack race, bean bag throw, and a donut-eating game.  That is where we hang donuts from a string and the participants have to eat the donut in the fastest time without using their hands, so that was a sight to see.”  Martin said the event would not have been possible without the sponsors. “We thank our sponsors; our Senior Softball League, Sam Rumsey from Willow RV Park, and South State Bank.  We couldn’t do the event without our sponsors, so we really appreciate them.”  To see pictures of the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Rabun County Recreation Department visit https://www.facebook.com/RabunCountyRecreationDepartment/.
