There’s more to Distracted Driving than Cellphones

The Georgia Department of Public Safety reports that the distracted driving code section applies to actions other than a cellphone.  The cellphone distracted driving code section has been in effect since 2018 and covers texting and holding a cellphone while driving.  However, there is a subsection of this code related to other internal vehicle distractions.  The code section specifies drivers shall not engage in any action that distracts the driver from the safe operation of their vehicle.  This includes, but is not limited to, adjusting the radio, eating food, or putting on makeup.  Driving is a complex divided attention task which requires your total attention, so please stay away from internal distractions and be a safe and responsible driver.
