Thanksgiving Travel Info

The Thanksgiving Holiday travel period begins tonight, and the Georgia Department of Public Safety says to expect heavy traffic on Georgia Roads throughout the weekend.

The Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, Colonel Mark McDonough says that Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol will be on duty during the holiday travel period in an effort keep the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities as low as possible.

The travel period begins at 6pm tonight and ends at midnight on Sunday. Last year during the Thanksgiving travel period, the GSP investigated over 450 accidents which resulted in over 300 injuries and 13 deaths.

McDonough says that law enforcement officers across the US will be cracking down on seat belt and child restraint violations through Click it or Ticket throughout the holiday period.
