TFS secures Final Four Bid with sweep of Lamar County

Tallulah Falls School (TFS) dominated in the Elite 8 on Tuesday evening against visiting Lamar County, reports TFS Athletics.  After TFS went down one point on the first serve of the match, it was all Lady Indians the rest of the way, as Lamar held only two brief, slim leads throughout.  The historic run continues for the Lady Indians, who won in straight sets 3-0 to advance to their first-ever Final Four.  The #4-ranked Lady Indians secured a quick 25-10 opening set win.  TFS got off to an 8-1 lead behind three aces by Kitty Rodenas and a pair of Sarah Jennings kills. After going up 11-2, Tallulah forced a Lamar County timeout. From there, the Lady Indians rolled through the rest of the way with ease, as Skylyn Yaskiewicz’s kill ended the set, handing TFS a 1-0 edge.  The second set was more of the same, as the Lady Indians bounced out to a 5-0 lead. Jennings had a couple of early kills, and Addy McCoy recorded three straight aces. A Lamar County point interrupted the run, then TFS won the next three with multiple aces by Rodenas. Later in the set with McCoy at serve, the Lady Indians made a big run to go up 17-8 and force Lamar to call another timeout. TFS won the set 25-14.  In the match-sealing set 25-18 win, TFS cycled in many players to gain playoff experience. After going up 5-1, the Lady Indians allowed Lamar County to come back and take a brief 8-6 lead. An Elsa Sanchez kill got TFS back on top 9-8, and though Lamar would hang close throughout most of the set, Tallulah Falls had control of the set. Lamar did tie the set at 14 apiece, but TFS ran ahead 22-17 again making the visitors burn a timeout to regroup. Back-to-back McCoy kills ended the set and match, securing the Final Four spot.  Unofficially, Jennings led with 18 kills and McCoy added 10. Rodenas had six aces and McCoy ended with four.  The Lady Indians are now 33-11 on the season, and will take on the winner of #2 Mt. Pisgah vs #2 Heard County, which ensures Tallulah Falls to host the Final Four round.
