TFS Rifle upends reigning State Runner-Up
Tallulah Falls School (TFS) did what many schools have been unable to do, beat Lumpkin County, reports TFS Athletics. The rifle team went to Dahlonega on Thursday night and defeated the reigning State Runner-Up and Area Champions Lumpkin County. The loss was the first in three years suffered by Lumpkin in the regular season. TFS won 1146-1132 in a battle of top programs. Brianna Walter continued her incredible season with another state individual qualifying score of 293. She was followed by Joseph McGahee with a 289, Chloe Erwin 283 (14x), Kylee Loudermilk 283 (10x) for the team score, and Marc Crotta 278. Mitchell McGahee, with Lumpkin’s two first-year athletes, was able to shoot during the official match due to Lumpkin’s large range. Mitchell shot a 272. Seven TFS athletes will travel to the CMP Regional range (80 targets) in Anniston, AL for the Gary Anderson Invitational National match on Saturday. To aid in understanding the magnitude of this 3×20 match (20 shots in each 3 positions), the identical CMP Regional Range at Camp Perry, OH will be shooting at the same time connected via electronic targets. There will be a total of seven relays on ranges with 80 lanes each of the best high school-aged rifle athletes in the nation. TFS is now 5-0 on the season.
