TFS announces Indians of the Month for October of 2020

Brian Carter, Director of Sports Communication and Digital Media at Tallulah Falls School (TFS) announces that TFS has named its Indians of the Month winners for October 2020. The winners are Katy Corbett and Evan Prince for the high school, and Madeline Martin and Clay Kafsky for the middle school.

Katy Corbett

Volleyball – High School Girl

“Katy Corbett had an amazing postseason. She played her best volleyball of the year through our Region and State tournaments. She led the team in kills, hitting percentage, and digs. Not only did she lead in the stats department but she led with her effort, energy encouragement, and competitive spirit. Her strong spirit helped guide the team to the second Sweet Sixteen appearance in three years,” said Coach Matt Heyl.

Evan Prince

Cross Country – High School Boy

“In October, junior cross country Captain Evan Prince set a school 5k record to rank in the top 25 in all the state of GA high school harriers at the Asics/Alexander elite meet, won the West Hall Invite, placed second at the Harrier Harvest in a personal course best time, and won the Region 8-A Private championship in the third-best time on that course’s history.  Moreover, Evan consistently seeks to create a season of significance for his teammates well beyond his own performance; he is truly a GREAT teammate,” said Coach Scott Neal.

Madeline Martin

Tennis – Middle School Girl

“Madeline Martin played #3 singles all season except for one match and she played at #2 singles. She was undefeated all season and played exceptionally well to end the season for a Championship win. Madeline tries extremely hard and perseveres through tough challenges. She loves the game of tennis and will do well with her determination and continued practicing,” said Coach Lisa Wilcox.

Clay Kafsky

Cross Country – Middle School Boy

“Clay Kafsky finished the season ranked #1 on the MS 2 mile Legacy List and #3 on the 3k list in his first year of running XC. He crossed the finish line 35th of 178 in 13:12.97 in the small school race at the GA Middle School State Championship; his time placed him 150th of 795 overall throughout the seven male races. Before that, he finished fourth of 45 at Athens Academy and 14th of 143 at the Mountain Invite. Clay is competitive, never backs down from any challenge, and is quick to engage with others. He has a rich mix of external and intrinsic motivation that compels him to do his best daily, no matter what lies before him.  Unafraid to fail, his desire for success, to see who is the best, to see how far he can push himself, to see just how good he can be…motivates his every athletic action,” said Coach Scott Neal.
