Stolen Gun Found in Woods, Three Arrested

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office arrests three in connection to a stolen firearm recovered just after the first of the year.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a wooded area off of Highway 441 South to assist the Department of Natural Resources with a report of shots fired.

Major Jeff Harris with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office said that the County’s Explosives K-9 was brought in to check for signs of possible hunters or subjects in the area.

“While checking the area, the Sheriff’s Office K9, Pinda, alerted in a specific area in the woods. What she had discovered was  a .22 caliber pistol which was later identified as a gun that had been stolen in November of 2012.”

That information was given to investigators, which led to the arrests of Timmy Ray Nicholson and William Ralph Perkins on the charges of theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Christopher Brock on the charge of theft by receiving stolen property.
