SR 13 Project will open All Lanes to Traffic on July 9

On Thursday, July 9, 2020, all lanes on the State Route 13 widening project will be opened to traffic. Crews will remove the construction barrels beginning at 9 am and traffic should be using all the lanes on the route by mid-morning.  This project widened Buford Hwy (SR 13) between Sawnee Avenue in Gwinnett County and Friendship Road in Hall County, which is nearly 1.53 miles.  The former roadway consisted of two lanes with a variable width, with only a few locations with left turn and right turn lanes along the project length. Now Buford Hwy (SR 13) is a four-lane divided highway with a 20-foot raised median, four-foot bike lanes, curb and gutter and five-foot sidewalks on both sides.  E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. was awarded the project in June 2016. This project represents a $16.7 million investment in infrastructure in Gwinnett and Hall Counties.
