Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund raises $8,800 in February

Thanks to the generous community and a matching donor, the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund raised $8,800 in February.  Fund president Jennifer Arbitter is very grateful for the support of cancer patients living in Rabun County.  “The Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund was approached by an anonymous donor at the beginning of the year who offered to do a match for us in the month of February up to $4,000.  She said that she would match any donations made on our website or by check for the month of February.  We actually surpassed our goal for February and we received $4,800 in donations in the month of February, which is fantastic.  Wintertime is usually a slow time for us for donations.  We usually get most of our donations in the summer and fall and so this was a great opportunity for us to keep people aware of what Sid Weber does, which assists Rabun County cancer patients with their non-medical expenses and reminds people that the need never stops.  We collected several new clients so far this year because cancer never stops and we need donations year-round.  So, this was a wonderful opportunity for us and I am so thankful to all the donors who gave during the month of February.  Because of the match and because of the donations we made almost $9,000 to help Rabun County cancer patients.”  If you would like to donate, visit www.sidwebercancerfund.org.  The Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund provides up to $2,500 for Rabun County cancer patients to help cover their non-medical expenses such as rent, groceries, travel, and utilities.  Since 2007, the fund has provided Rabun County cancer patients with more than $750,000.
