Obituary for Shirley Allred

Shirley Scruggs Allred, 81, of Dillard, GA., died at her home in Dillard Friday night June 16, 2017. She was the widow of Charles H. Allred.

 

She was born February 11, 1936 in Rabun County to William Lafayette Scruggs and Ola Belle Burrell, Scruggs, and had lived her whole life in Rabun County. Shirley was a member of the Clayton Baptist Church and a charter member of the Anita Roper Circle of WMU. She was a self-employed owner of the Stateline Package Store.

 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by stepson, Roy Kenneth Wood and a sister, Nancy Caroline, and is survived by a son, Randy Clark Speed (Donna) of Clayton., and their children Charles and Mollie Speed and Samuel Speed., by step-daughter, Kelli Ramey and friend, Donald Becker of Tiger, GA., and Kelli’s children, Trevor Ramey, Coryn and husband Robert Byers, Shirley loved her family and was known for her generosity and giving heart. All those who knew her will miss her and her quick wit and straight forward advice.

 

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be Monday June 19, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at the Clayton Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Watts and Charles Speed officiating. A private burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 6 P.M. (The Funeral Hour). The family is at the home in Dillard.

 

Family Extends a special thanks to Bonnie Wadzeck, Sheri Penland, Doris Edwards Olivia Dixon and Joan Kinzly for their kindness and love. Flowers are acceptable – memorial donations may be made to the church or charity of one’s choice.
