Seneca Man arrested for Felony Shoplifting from Walmart in Clayton

A Seneca, South Carolina man stands charged with felony theft by shoplifting and obstructing law enforcement officers.  On July 1, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Walmart in Clayton in reference to a man, who committed a theft by shoplifting.  The man had taken $289 worth of merchandise as well as $480 worth of merchandise on June 23.  The deputy and the store’s loss prevention officer apprehended the man, identified as 37-year-old Jonathan Wesley Carver of Seneca, South Carolina.  When the deputy was trying to place him in the patrol vehicle, Carver ran and the deputy tried to tase him but the tasers missed.  The deputy caught Carver near the store’s entrance and tased him.  A Clayton Police Officer arrived and assisted the deputy in getting Carver in the patrol vehicle.  He was transported to the Rabun County Detention Center for booking.
