RGNS to Add Fifth Grade

Rabun Gap Nacoochee School announces some changes, including adding another grade level.

Rabun Gap Nacoochee School purchased the Rabun Gap Community School around 8 months ago, and Dr. Anthony Sgro with RGNS says that while the county is currently still utilizing the building, the timeline of the transition process has been formed.

Sgro said he is glad the building, which is going to house the middle school and some athletic facilities, will not be empty.

“We’re just really excited that we were able to acquire this building and that it’s not going to be an empty shell sitting there,” said Sgro. “I mean, that would be awful for the community. We’re also very committed to continuing to allow community groups to use that facility.”

In addition, he said the school is excited about adding another grade.

“We’re introducing fifth grade for next year, so we’ll be offering a curriculum for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade, and a full high school curriculum 9th-12th on our main campus.”

Sgro says the latest they will take acquisition of the building is June 1st of 2013.
