Resurfacing on SR 15 underway, expect lane closures

Georgia Department of Transportation crews has resumed work on the major highway leading into Rabun.

Crews began work on SR 15 from N of SR 17 in Habersham County to the Tallulah River here in Rabun where the county line exists.

According to GDOT officials, the nearly $7 million project selected by the District Maintenance Office, is to resurface SR 15 to improve the roadways current low PACES rating of 68.

Drivers should prepare for possible delays while the maintenance construction is ongoing.

Lane closures will occur daily from 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. except on Fridays when lanes will reopen at 3 p.m.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says lanes will not be closed on the weekends.
