Repairs to begin on Sandy Creek Bridge

Contractors will begin making repairs to the Sandy Creek bridge on Forest Service Road 1234 this week. The work should take no more than 30 days. The bridge will be completely closed to all traffic. These repairs were necessitated after a recent storm washed out critical soil and structural support, jeopardizing any travel across the bridge. A potential sinkhole from erosion may cause the road to cave-in. The Forest Service asks the public to respect this unfortunate but necessary road closure. This route provides the only access to certain equestrian trails and Scull Shoals, a historical site on the Forest. Crews and staff are working diligently to make the necessary repairs.
