Register for the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy

Now is the time to register for the Fall 2022 Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy.  Sheriff Chad Nichols and his team are excited to announce this year’s Academy for participants who wish to register to learn about the Office of the Sheriff and how it impacts the lives of citizens and those visiting Rabun County.  During the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy, participants will learn more about each division of the Sheriff’s Office and other areas of the Judicial System.  The Sheriff’s Office’s most well-known four-legged partners, the K-9 teams, and handlers will make guest appearances.  You will learn how they train during the class and the purpose of meaningful work in the community.  Participants will tour the Rabun County Detention Center and speak with Captain Darnell and visit where the inmates are housed.  This will be your opportunity if you have always wanted to learn more about criminal investigations.  You can speak to some of the lead investigators about the steps to working a crime scene and they will provide answers to questions about the process.  There is limited registration for this event.  Classes will start on Thursday, October 4, 2022, and be held every Thursday night from 6-8pm through November 15, 2022, for seven weeks.  So let the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office know as soon as possible if you’re interested and come to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office at 56 Boen Creek Road in Tiger to complete a quick and easy free registration process or contact Mark Gerrells at 706-982-4237.
