RCWSA making progress on Control Valve Project

Progress is being made on installing a control valve to interconnect the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority’s (RCWSA) North Water System with the City of Clayton, says RCWSA General Manager Brendan Thompson.  “Our control value, which is the value that we are putting in at the Flea Market, just north of Clayton, that project is underway as of Monday.  I spoke with the contractor this morning, they’re going to be picking up the control value and the pressure-reducing valve that will go inside the vault this week and have that done with the vault itself, poured and placed with the vault.  So, once that is complete we will go ahead and get that installed.  I’ll be letting Clayton folks know when we will be doing that because we will have to isolate the South and North System briefly that one day hopefully to get that vault in.  So, we are moving forward with it and hopefully have that wrapped up in the next 2-3 weeks.”  The project will bring water from the North System to augment the water supply from the Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant while filters are replaced.  Once the filters are replaced, water will continue to be brought to Clayton from both the Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant and the Little Tennessee Water Treatment Plant.
