RCWSA improves Working Relationship with Clayton in 2022

The Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) had many accomplishments in 2022, but one really stands out to RCWSA General Manager Brendan Thompson.  “I think the biggest thing and it really is just an overarching one item is how well we have worked with Mayor Kurt Cannon and the Council for the City of Clayton getting our vision of bringing water from the north to the City of Clayton allowing us to be able to move water as we need to and have redundancy and make sure folks are not out of water.  It’s so refreshing to work with folks that want to kind of see the same vision that we do.  Of course, the Commissioners have always been 100% behind us and continue to do so and we’ll move forward with our bigger projects: our control valve, our new tank up here, our filter replacement coming up in the next year for Lake Rabun, and of course, our Wolffork Road water main extension.  Those all have been really put in place during 2022 and we’re moving forward with that.  Of course, there are going to be bumps in the road and as always we will be working hard on it, but again, the main thing is that we are really starting to work together and make sure that the community is taken care of.”  The installation of a control valve to interconnect the RCWSA’s North Water System with the City of Clayton is almost finished and work on a new 750,000-gallon ground-level storage tank off Yorkhouse Road is scheduled to begin in late March or early April.
