RCWSA hears General Manager’s Report for September 2022

This week, the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) heard the September 2022 report from General Manager Brendan Thompson.  “Our September 2022 ending balance on the RCWSA Operating Bank Account is $68,848.01.  We reviewed the FY 2023 Operating Budget status.  For the South Water System, the September 2022 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.37/1000 gallons beginning on July 1, 2022. Water Bill Amount is $124,962.47. Please note that the billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019 and terminates September 30, 2024.  Lake Rabun WTP pumped to distribution system volume for August 2022 was 38,449,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for September 2022 was 37,637,000 gallons; a decrease of 812,000 gallons or -2.1% from August 2022 to September 2022.  Pumped to distribution system volume for September 2021 was 38,251,000 gallons; a decrease of 614,000 gallons or -1.6% from September 2021 to September 2022.  The City of Clayton’s September 2021 billing volume was 35,187,727 gallons. City of Clayton’s September 2022 billing volume was 36,687,258 gallons. An increase of 1,499,531 gallons or 4.3%.  Customers’ September 2022 meter readings were done September 23, 2022. Bills were sent out September 29, 2022.  One new tap for the month of September 2022; Greg Shumate.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of September 2022 was .53%.  For the North Water System, Little Tennessee WTP pumped to distribution system for August 2022 was 19,016,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for September 2022 was 17,342,000 gallons; a decrease of 1,674,000 gallons or -8.8% from August 2022 to September 2022.  Meter reading and bills sent out at the same time as the South Water System.  No new taps for the month of September 2022.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of September 2022 was 5.11%.  At the Rabun County Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery and grass mowing and weed-eating is ongoing, at least for another month.”  In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
