RCWSA hears General Manager’s Report for October 2022

This week, the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) heard the October 2022 report from General Manager Brendan Thompson.  “The October 2022 ending balance on the RCWSA Operating Bank Account is $61,825.05.  For the South Water System, the October 2022 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.37/1,000 gallons beginning on July 1, 2022. Water Bill Amount is $139,476.69. Please note that the billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019, and terminates September 30, 2024.  Lake Rabun WTP pumped to distribution system volume for September 2022 was 37,637,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for October 2022 was 38,298,000 gallons; an increase of 661,000 gallons or 1.8% from September 2022 to October 2022.  Pumped to distribution system volume for October 2021 was 39,706,000 gallons; a decrease of 1,408,000 gallons or -3.5% from October 2021 to October 2022.  The City of Clayton’s October 2021 billing volume was 36,570,470. The City of Clayton’s October 2022 billing volume was 39,425,790 gallons (30 days vs. 32 days). An increase of 2,855,320 gallons or 7.8%.  Customers’ October 2022 meter readings were done October 25, 2022. Bills were sent out on October 31, 2022.  One new tap for the month of October 2022 at HL Trash Monkey.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of October 2022 was .4%.  For the North Water System, the Little Tennessee WTP pumped to the distribution system for September 2022 was 17,342,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for October 2022 was 14,721,000 gallons; a decrease of 2,621,000 gallons or -15.1% from September 2022 to October 2022. Please note that Multitrade was down from October 23-29.  Meter reading and bills were sent out at the same time as the South Water System.  One new tap for the month of October 2022 at Rumlar Camping.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of October 2022 was 3.1%.  At the Rabun County Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery continues.  Grass mowing and weed-eating were ongoing.”  In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
