RCWSA hears General Manager’s Report for March 2023

This week, the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) heard the March 2023 report from General Manager Brendan Thompson.  “March 2023 ending balance on the RCWSA Operating Bank Account is $57,087.18.  For the South Water System, the March 2023 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.37/1000 gallons beginning on July 1, 2022. Water Bill Amount is $106,380.99. Please note that the billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019 and terminates September 30, 2024.  Lake Rabun WTP pumped to distribution system volume for February 2023 was 32,158,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for March 2023 was 35,086,000 gallons; an increase of 2,928,000 gallons or 9.1% from February 2023 to March 2023.  Pumped to distribution system volume for March 2022 was 36,310,000 gallons; a decrease of 1,224,000 gallons or -3.4% from March 2022 to March 2023.  The City of Clayton’s March 2022 billing volume was 32,425,926 gallons. City of Clayton’s March 2023 billing volume was 31,567,058 gallons. A decrease of 858,868 gallons or -2.6%.  Customers’ March 2023 meter readings were done March 24, 2023. Bills were sent out March 31, 2023.  No new taps for the month of March 2023.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of March 2023 was 1.30%.  For the North Water System, Little Tennessee WTP pumped to the distribution system for February 2023 was 16,350,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for March 2023 was 17,266,000 gallons; an increase of 916,000 gallons or 5.6% from February 2023 to March 2023.  Meter Reading and Bills sent; same times as the South Water System.  No new taps for the month of March 2023.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of March 2023 was 4.57%.  At the Rabun County Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery.”  In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
