RCWSA hears General Manager’s Report for January 2024

This week, the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) heard the January 2024 report from General Manager Brendan Thompson. “The January 2024 ending balance on the RCWSA Operating Bank Account is $233,064.14. For the South Water System, January 2024 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.57/1000 gallons beginning on July 1, 2023. The Water Bill Amount is $164,881.43. The $164,881.43 includes arrearage in the amount of $14,354.63 from November 2023 and December 2023 water bills. Please note that the billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019, and terminates September 30, 2024. Lake Rabun WTP pumped to the distribution system volume for December 2023 was 31,597,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for January 2024 was 30,044,000 gallons; a decrease of 1,553,000 gallons or – 4.9% from December 2023 to January 2024. Pumped to distribution system volume for January 2023 was 37,776,000 gallons; a decrease of 7,732,000 gallons or – 20.5% from January 2023 to January 2024. Please note that water from LTWTP was brought to Clayton’s Water System. City of Clayton’s January 2023 billing volume was 38,544,330 gallons. City of Clayton’s January 2024 billing volume was 40,152,227 gallons. An increase of 1,607,897 gallons or 4.2%. Customers’ January 2024 meter readings were done January 26, 2024. Bills were sent out January 31, 2024. No new connections for the month of January 2024. Unaccounted for water volume for the month of January 2024 was 3.0%. For the North Water System, Little Tennessee WTP pumped to the distribution system for December 2023 was 27,348,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for January 2024 was 28,304,000 gallons; an increase of 956,000 gallons or 3.5% from December 2023 to January 2024.  Please note that water from LTWTP was brought to Clayton’s Water System. Meter Reading and Bills sent; same times as the South Water System. No new connections for the month of January 2024. Unaccounted for water volume for the month of January 2024 was 4.8%. At the Rabun County Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery.” In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
