RCWSA hears General Manager’s Report for January 2023

This week, the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) heard the January 2023 report from General Manager Brendan Thompson.  “The January 2023 ending balance on the RCWSA Operating Bank Account is $51,925.09.  For the South Water System, the January 2023 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.37/1000 gallons beginning on July 1, 2022. Water Bill Amount is $134,804.95. Please note that the billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019 and terminates September 30, 2024.  Lake Rabun WTP pumped to the distribution system volume for December 2022 was 37,128,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for January 2023 was 37,776,000 gallons; an increase of 648,000 gallons or 1.7% from December 2022 to January 2023.  Pumped to distribution system volume for January 2022 was 38,563,000 gallons; a decrease of 787,000 gallons or -2.0% from January 2022 to January 2023.  The City of Clayton’s January 2022 billing volume was 35,693,573 gallons. City of Clayton’s January 2023 billing volume was 38,544,330 gallons. An increase of 2,850,757 gallons or 8.0%.  Customers’ January 2023 meter readings were done January 23, 2023. Bills were sent out January 30, 2023.  There were no new taps for the month of January 2023.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of January 2023 was 2.5%.  For the North Water System, Little Tennessee WTP pumped to the distribution system for December 2022 was 16,585,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for January 2023 was 16,123,000 gallons; a decrease of 462,000 gallons or -2.8% from December 2022 to January 2023.  Meter Reading and Bills sent; same times as the South Water System.  There were no new taps for the month of January 2023.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month of January 2023 was 5.8%.  At the Rabun County Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery.”  In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
