RCWSA given Monthly Report

The June meeting of the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, consisted mainly of General Manager Brendan Thompson’s monthly report.  The May 2020 ending balance on RCWSA Operating Bank Account was $73,541.07.  Then Thompson updated the Authority on the status of the South Water System.  “May 2020 Water bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.10/1,000 gallons beginning in July 2019. Water Bill Amount is $100,340.81. Please note that the new billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019.  Lake Rabun WTP pumped to distribution system volume for April 2020 was 32,158,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for May 2020 was 34,556,000 gallons; an increase of 2,398,000 gallons or 7.5% from April 2020 to May 2020.  Customers’ May 2020 meter readings were done May 26, 2020. Bills were sent out June 1, 2020.  No new taps for the month of May 2020.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month was 6.2%.”  An update on the status of the North Water System was then presented to the Authority by Thompson.  “Little Tennessee WTP pumped to distribution system for April 2020 was 7,878,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for May 2020 was 14,898,000 gallons; an increase of 7,020,000 gallons or 89.1% from April 2020 to May 2020. Please note that Multitrade was back in operation April 26, 2020.  Customers’ May 2020 meter readings were done May 26, 2020. Bills were sent out June 1, 2020.  No new taps for the month of May 2020.  Unaccounted for water volume for the month was 5.8%.”  Finally, the Authority heard Thompson discuss the Wastewater Plant.  “Regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery.  Completed work on reshaping banks and grass sowing at backwash ponds.  Grass mowing, weed-eating and spraying of fences is ongoing.”  Fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising is ongoing as well.
