RCWSA General Manager gives Monthly Report for June

At this week’s meeting of the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA), General Manager Brendan Thompson gave his monthly report for June of 2022.  “The June 2022 ending balance on the RCWSA Operating Bank Account is $39,836.19.  For the South Water System, the June 2022 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. Unit Rate is $3.28/1,000 gallons beginning in July 2021. The Water Bill Amount is $135,821.32. The new unit rate of $3.37 to be implemented on July 1, 2022. Please note that the billing methodology agreed to by contract between RCWSA and the City of Clayton was implemented on August 1, 2019, and terminates on September 30, 2024.  Lake Rabun WTP pumped to distribution system volume for May 2022 was 38,998,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for June 2022 was 40,584,000 gallons; an increase of 1,586,000 gallons or 4.1% from May 2022 to June 2022.  Pumped to distribution system volume for June 2021 was 35,812,000 gallons; an increase of 4,772,000 gallons or 13.3% from June 2021 to June 2022.  The City of Clayton’s June 2021 billing volume was 34,852,279 gallons. City of Clayton’s June 2022 billing volume was 39,506,190 gallons. An increase of 4,653,911 gallons or 13.4%.  Customers’ June 2022 meter readings were done June 24, 2022. Bills were sent out June 30, 2022.  No new taps for the month of June 2022.  The unaccounted for water volume for the month of June 2022 was .1%.  For the North Water System, the Little Tennessee WTP pumped to the distribution system for May 2022 was 16,872,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for June 2022 was 16,536,000 gallons; a decrease of 336,000 gallons or -2.0% from May 2022 to June 2022.  Meter reading and bills sent were sent at the same times as the South Water System.  No new taps for the month of June 2022.  The unaccounted for water volume for the month of June 2022 was 8.2%.  Installation of new LTWTP raw water pump #1 is to commence late September 2022. LTWTP raw water pumps #2 and #3 have been replaced.  At the Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, we tapped an 18-inch line from EQ Basin to the Influent Pit to measure for Insertion Valve.  Regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery is ongoing.  Grass mowing and weed-eating are ongoing as well.”  In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
