RCSO continues search for missing felon

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a felon that has been on the run for more than a month and has numerous outstanding warrants from Rabun County and Macon County, North Carolina.

According to Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols, the missing felon, Casey Ward, was last seen on Nov. 18 in the area of Old Mill Lane in Clayton.

Nichols said deputies became aware of an incident that occurred in Mountain City off Electric Avenue.

“Deputies responded to take a report of damage to property in Mountain City where they met with a female who stated a Casey Ward had been moving out of her house and they had gotten into an altercation where she ended up driving him to Macon County, NC,” he said. “The incident escalated up there where the defendant had been charged with assault on a female, second-degree kidnapping, communicating threats, discharging a weapon, occupy property, assault with a deadly weapon, larceny and possession of firearm by a felon.”

Ward is currently still at large despite numerous tips the sheriff’s office has looked into.

“We’ve been receiving information about his whereabouts but none have resulted in him being arrested,” Nichols said. “We encourage the public to give us a call if anyone has knowledge of his whereabouts.”

Nichols advises the public to proceed with caution if anyone happens to come in contact with Ward.

If anyone has information on the missing felon, contact Lt. Kyle Shook at 706-960-9745 or 911.
