Rabun Man Sentenced for 26 Grams of meth

Eric Allen Dixon, who was arrested on April 1st, in Rabun County, for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, after a traffic stop revealed over 26 grams of meth, was sentenced yesterday at the Rabun County Courthouse in front of Judge Caudell after pleading guilty. Assistant District Attorney George Christian explained the sentence…

“He received a ten year probation sentence, he also has to serve a 180 days of that sentence in the Rabun County Detention Center. There was no fine imposed because he forfeited in excess of $2000 and a truck that he was driving that particular day. He also has to undergo drug evaluation and testing, and he has to submit to random drug at least once per week for the first two months of probation.”

A much harder sentence could have been handed down if not for this being Dixon’s first offense…

“Of course he did ask for, and received first offender treatment, so should he violate the terms of that sentence, Judge Caudell has the option of sentencing him up to thirty years in prison.”

Dixon was offered time to get his affairs in order before serving his sentence, and is to turn himself in at the Rabun County Detention Center next Friday.
