Rabun Gap Students assisting in “Little Shop of Horrors”

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School reports that its students have partnered with the North Georgia Community Players (NGCP) to help make “Little Shop of Horrors” come to life on the community theater stage later this month. Students in Mr. Brian Phillips ’98’s Advanced Engineering class and students in the afternoon STEAM program have designed and built puppets for the show, including the iconic Audrey II, a carnivorous plant that grows larger and more demanding throughout the musical. Students have been working in Rabun Gap’s IDEA Lab for months to create these theatre pieces.  In addition to the collaboration in the IDEA Lab, Rabun Gap’s arts program has also been integral in the community theatre show. Technical theatre students have been working on painting a backdrop for the set, and Rabun Gap dancers are helping with choreography. Collaborations with community partners like NGPC are at the core of Rabun Gap’s applied learning curriculum. At all levels, students engage in hands-on, real-world projects that make an impact on organizations and the community. NGCP’s “Little Shop of Horrors” comes to the Dillard Playhouse on March 15-17, and March 22-24.
